Rogue

History

Rogue was the first of the X-Men CardFigures collection with a flight power so I really wanted some way of building a flight stand. The rubberband was the simplest way to make it work. A wire loop at the top for the rubberband to be inserted and a bend where she needed to stop at the top was a simple but effective design. The stand has enough weight to hold her up off the ground in flight. 

There is a hook and loop fastener on the back of the rounded aluminum flashing to remove the part which allows her to slide up from her back and leave it with the flight stand. 

I debated keeping the rubberband under constant tension so I could move a switch and launch her into the air. The dangling rubberband over her head was not the ideal design choice. The closest I came up with was inserting a connected pin, but it didn’t work as well as this simple method. 

The ToyBiz 5” action figure had a punch mechanism from a lever on her back but most other figures during that time had some kind of punch or kick action gimmick. Even though I loved those 90s X-Men figures, I wanted her to fly.
