History

The Robotech line of CardFigures was my first attempt to make smaller figures since I wanted the pilots to fit into a transformable Veritech Fighter. In order to still have some detail and cut them out of cardboard, they were about 8 inches tall. This made the Veritech Battloid robot mode almost 3 feet tall after transformation.  It’s big and bulky but cardboard is light. Velcro holds most of it in position during transformation. I will post those images and video soon.

When Robotech.com had a photo contest back in 2007 during the release of Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles Collector’s Edition DVD, the photo of these Robotech cardboard characters won 2nd place in the Coolest Item category and a signed copy.

There are plenty of ways that modern software can make them look even better but then they wouldn’t fit into what I made 30 years ago. Any new characters would need to be made the original colored pencil way.
